Lufthansa has banned the use of power banks on board

From mid-January, passengers traveling on Lufthansa Group airlines must be aware of the ban on the use of power banks on board. This means that portable batteries cannot be used to charge electronic devices during the flight.

As the carrier emphasizes, the decision was made for reasons of flight safety. Power banks containing lithium-ion batteries can pose a risk of overheating, ignition, and even fire, which is a serious hazard in the confined space of an aircraft cabin.

The change in transport policy applies to all airlines belonging to the group. The new rules apply on board: Lufthansa (including German feeder airlines), Swiss International Air Lines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, ITA Airways, Air Dolomiti, and Edelweiss Air.
