The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has changed the warning level for travellers to Cuba. Level four, the highest level, is now in force, ruling out even travel for family or medical reasons.
According to the Polish Press Agency, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has posted a statement on its website raising the warning level for travellers to Cuba to level four. What does this mean? Poland advises against all travel to Cuba, even for urgent professional or family reasons, as this involves the highest level of danger. The statement notes that this is linked to the worsening energy and fuel crisis on the island. It also highlights the possibility of civil unrest and difficulties in providing assistance to Polish citizens in the event of an emergency. Unofficially, it should be added that the warning may also be prompted by US President Donald Trump’s remarks regarding a possible invasion of Cuba.
In light of the Foreign Ministry’s statement, we also recommend against any travel to Cuba. It is a wonderful island, about which we have written several guides, and tourism is one of the most important sectors of Cuba’s economy, but it is worth visiting this place in calmer times.
