Kraków Airport has held an official opening ceremony for the Pre-Boarding Zone, or Support Terminal, which will increase the airport’s capacity by up to 2 million departing passengers per year.
New facilities and increased capacity: 380 seats with universal power sockets (EU/US/UK, USB and USB-C) for convenient device charging, a medical room, a rest room, a baby care room and a play area. Passengers also have access to, amongst other things, a pushchair area, foot wash stations, water taps, food and drink outlets and vending machines, as well as an outdoor smoking area – this is how the airport in Balice, near Kraków, describes the new Support Terminal. The Pre-Boarding Zone project looks great and will certainly help the perpetually crowded Kraków airport to improve the comfort of travellers.
The official presentation took place on 24 April, but even before the space was opened to the public, it was tested by 300 independent users on the night of 29 April to identify any errors or shortcomings in the eyes of potential passengers. Now we must wait for the first feedback from departing passengers and reviews of the Support Terminal from travellers’ perspective. As we can see in the photo from the Kraków Airport website, the bird’s-eye view suggests a successful project, but we will have to wait a few weeks for the results.
