The authorities at one of Sardinia’s most popular beaches have introduced some unusual restrictions. At Punta Molentis, some visitors are no longer allowed to use beach umbrellas.
The new rules apply to people aged between 10 and 65. They will not be allowed to put up parasols or other structures providing shade. Families with children under the age of 10 and people over the age of 65 are exempt from the restrictions.
From 5 June until the end of October, entry to the beach costs €10. The fee does not apply to people with disabilities and their carers. The authorities explain the new regulations as necessary to protect the environment and improve the comfort of using the beach during the peak tourist season.
