Belgium plans further increases in airport tax for passengers departing from domestic airports. The new regulations will result in a gradual increase in fees over the coming years, and the additional costs are expected to be passed on to travelers.
Starting in 2027, the aviation tax will be standardized and will amount to 10 euros for all passengers departing from Belgian airports, regardless of the length of the route. This is a significant change from the current system, which applied different rates depending on the destination.
The government anticipates further increases in the fee. In 2028, the tax will rise to €10.50, and from 2029, it will reach €11 per passenger. Experts note that airlines will most likely factor the new fees into ticket prices, which will result in higher travel costs for passengers.
