The Sagrada Família has reached another historic milestone. The 172-metre-high Tower of Jesus Christ has been completed, making the cathedral the tallest church in the world.
The tower was inaugurated by Pope Leo XIV during his visit to Barcelona. The event attracted the attention of worshippers and tourists from all over the world. The opening date marks the 100th anniversary of the death of Antoni Gaudí, who took over work on the basilica shortly after construction began in 1882.
Today, the Sagrada Família is Spain’s most recognisable building and one of the country’s main drivers of tourism.
