Bangladesh stops issuing visas on arrival

The Bangladeshi authorities have decided to temporarily restrict visa facilitation for foreigners. As of January 15, it is no longer possible to obtain a visa on arrival, which directly affects tourists and business travelers from Poland.

According to local authorities, the suspension of the visa on arrival program is related to the parliamentary elections and referendum taking place in the country. The measures are temporary and are due to organizational and security issues. Until now, Polish citizens could enter Bangladesh without obtaining a visa in advance, using the visa on arrival (VoA) option, issued at the airport for a fee of USD 51. However, this option has been unexpectedly abolished from today until February 15 this year.

Currently, tourists and businesspeople from countries previously covered by the VoA program, including Poland, must apply for a visa before departure. Applications must be submitted through Bangladeshi diplomatic and consular offices, which means that travel must be planned in advance.
