China is preparing to set another engineering record. The Huajiang Canyon Bridge, the world's highest bridge, is being built in the southwestern province of Guizhou.
The bridge will hang 625 metres above the river. The investment is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2025. The Huajiang Canyon Bridge is not only an impressive engineering achievement, but also a project of great importance for local transport. It will reduce the travel time through the mountainous terrain from two hours to just two minutes. This is a huge change for the region's residents and travellers crossing the difficult mountain trails.
Construction began on 18 January 2022 and is scheduled for completion on 30 June 2025. The bridge is set to open to traffic in the second half of 2025, becoming another symbol of China's technological and infrastructural power.
