In early June, the ‘Airport Dragon’ sculpture, designed by Andrzej Mleczka and created by Professor Andrzej Tutaj, was unveiled outside Kraków Airport.
The sculpture has joined the Krakow Dragon Trail, a tourist route consisting of small dragon figures created on the initiative of Krakow’s residents as part of the Participatory Budget. Each monument is thematically tailored to its location, and the first ones were designed by renowned artists: Andrzej Mleczko and Edward Lutczyn. In the case of the Aviator Dragon, situated in front of the passenger terminal at Balice Airport, the designer remained the same, but the sculptor changed to Professor Andrzej Tutaj. Travellers arriving in Kraków can therefore look forward to a warm welcome in front of this distinctive sculpture and the airport’s recently unveiled mascot, Krakus the dragon.
