29 June will see airBaltic’s final flight on the route from Warsaw-Chopin to Riga. This is yet another route cancelled by the Baltic carrier, following the recent removal of the Kraków to Vilnius route.
Changes to the flight schedule can be found on the carrier’s website. It shows that on 29 June this year, airBaltic will operate its final flight from Warsaw Chopin Airport to Riga. Most likely, the route was not profitable and lost out to LOT Polish Airlines, which also operates flights to the Latvian capital, and with a higher frequency of flights per week. The cancellation of the Warsaw-Riga route should come as no surprise, as just a few weeks ago airBaltic cancelled its route from Kraków to Vilnius. On that route, the Latvian carrier’s plans were seriously thwarted by Wizz Air, which duplicated the route and offered much lower fares.
