Sea Caves Cyprus

The Cypriot authorities have decided to fence off one of the island’s most famous and beautiful photo spots, namely the Sea Caves near Ayia Napa.

One of the most popular spots near the resort town of Ayia Napa in Cyprus will no longer be as accessible to tourists as it was before. We are talking about the Sea Caves, rock formations on the island’s coast offering incredible panoramic views of the blue sea. The popularity of the place speaks for itself, as the Sea Caves location on Google Maps has a rating of 4.9 out of over 5,000 reviews and plenty of rave reviews in the comments. Unfortunately, tourists will no longer be able to go down there and take their dream photo or jump into the crystal-clear water from the cliff. Why?

The Cypriot authorities argue that the erection of a fence and the closure of most of the Sea Caves area to tourists is for their own safety. Holidaymakers were too often attempting dangerous jumps into the water from the cliffs, and the rock formations themselves and their stability have raised concerns among local researchers; for the safety of the local population and visitors, it was decided to restrict access to the attraction. This is sad news, but logical from the perspective of health and safety on holiday. You can still admire the panorama of the Sea Caves from a distance, but it is definitely not the same as before.
