The Canadian government has launched the Canada Strong Pass initiative. Its aim is to encourage domestic and international tourists to explore the home of maple syrup through free entry and discounts.

The Canadian government has officially announced the return of its flagship tourism programme for the upcoming holiday season. The initiative, called the Canada Strong Pass, will come into effect on Friday, 19 June 2026, and will run continuously until 7 September 2026. This year’s edition, much like last year’s debut, aims to reduce travel costs and stimulate the local economy. The scheme does not require travellers to physically purchase any tickets or install dedicated apps – all preferential rates and free entry will be applied automatically directly by the campaign’s partners.

As part of the announced package, Parks Canada will waive admission fees to all national parks, national historic sites and marine conservation areas. The promotion will cover, among others, the popular regions of Banff, Jasper and the Bruce Peninsula. In addition, those opting to stay at state-run campsites and in park-managed accommodation will receive an automatic 25 per cent discount on their booking.

Canadian national museums and selected provincial and territorial galleries have also joined the programme, offering free admission for children and young people up to and including the age of 17. Those aged between 18 and 24 will, in turn, be able to benefit from a 50 per cent discount on admission tickets. The discounts will also extend to the rail sector. The national rail operator VIA Rail will offer free travel for those under 17 travelling under adult supervision, whilst young adults (aged 18–24) will receive a 25 per cent discount on rail tickets across the entire network. Both Canadian citizens and foreign tourists can take advantage of this offer.
