Flights to Kazakhstan

Thanks to the new horizontal aviation agreement signed between the European Union and Kazakhstan, the market is opening up to low-cost airlines, which will soon enable direct, low-cost flights from Poland to this Asian country.

According to information published by the European Commission and industry websites, the European Union and Kazakhstan have signed a landmark horizontal air transport agreement. What does this mean? It marks the end of restrictions limited solely to traditional airlines, and, most importantly, the outdated nationality clause blocking the entry of new players will also be removed. In practice, passengers flying from the EU to Asian holiday destinations will be able to travel with low-cost carriers without any problems or fears of a monopoly held by a single, state-designated carrier.

The new aviation agreement is also set to accelerate the development of the network of routes to Central Asia. This is another plus, because anyone who has ever planned a trip to Kazakhstan knows that the choice of low-cost flight options was practically non-existent, and this could prove very expensive. From a passenger’s perspective, however, the most important factor is that they will be able to fly on holiday with popular ‘low-cost’ carriers, such as Wizz Air, for whom major cities like Almaty and Astana represent a tempting prospect and ideal fodder for a new tourist hit from European Union countries.
