Liquid limit lifted at Katowice

Ahead of the 2027 summer holiday season, Katowice Airport will purchase and install state-of-the-art security scanners, which will allow the 100 ml limit on liquids in hand luggage to be lifted at the Silesian airport.

Great news for passengers planning flights from Pyrzowice Airport! Speaking to Radio Katowice, Artur Tomasik, chairman of the Upper Silesian Aviation Association, confirmed that state-of-the-art 3D scanners will be installed at Katowice-Pyrzowice Airport before the start of the 2027 holiday season. What will this change? There will no longer be a need to remove electronic devices and liquids during security checks, and, most importantly, the 100 ml limit on liquids per container in hand luggage will also be lifted. In practice, passengers flying from Katowice Airport on holiday in 2027 will be able to carry up to 2 litres of liquids in their hand luggage without any problems or fear of having them confiscated at security.

Modern scanners are also set to speed up the security screening process. This is another plus, as anyone who has ever flown from Pyrzowice during the peak season knows that the airport’s capacity is stretched to the limit and it can get very crowded there. From a passenger’s perspective, however, the most important thing is that they’ll be able to take a larger bottle of shower gel, spray deodorant, a large bottle of drinking water and other liquids exceeding 100 ml in capacity on holiday.
