Etihad Rail will launch the United Arab Emirates’ first passenger rail service on 30 June. The route will connect Fujairah with Abu Dhabi.
The new service will cover the distance between the emirates in just 1 hour and 45 minutes, offering a fast alternative to road transport. Ticket sales began on 23 June 2026. In just two days, as many as 5,000 passengers booked seats on the inaugural services.
Bookings for future dates are still available via the Etihad Rail website and app. The operator is also offering a 50 per cent discount on tickets on the day sales began. The official opening of the new railway stations in Dubai and Al Dhaid is scheduled for 30 September 2026.
