The Marshal's Office of the Lubuskie Region is trying to tempt Wizz Air to launch a route from Zielona Góra to London through a PLN 10.5 million tender to promote the region.
Lubuskie Province has announced a tender for the promotion of the region, in practice a system of subsidies for airlines to launch new routes from local airports. In this case, the airport in question is Zielona Góra-Babimost and the amount of as much as 10.5 million PLN, which the airline would receive for operating a designated route for 12 months. Unofficial information indicates that this is to interest the airline Wizz Air to launch flights from Zielona Góra to London.
The tender for the ‘promotion of the region’ has a budget of PLN 10.5 million and includes in the contract the winning entity to carry out 100 rotations from Zielona Góra to London-Luton airport between 30 March 2025 and 29 March 2026. The provision to make landings at Luton airport points more to Wizz Air than Ryanair, but there is no certainty that the Hungarian airline will be willing to fly from Zielona Góra.
