Travelers to Stuttgart will have to pay an additional fee. The city council has decided to introduce a lodging tax that will apply to guests staying in hotels and other lodging facilities in the capital of Baden-Württemberg.
Starting July 1, 2026, a lodging tax of 3 euros per person per night will take effect in Stuttgart. The decision was made by the city council, which aims to boost revenue for the local budget. The tax will apply to guests staying in hotels, guesthouses, and other forms of accommodation within the city.
According to the adopted regulations, the formal taxpayers will be accommodation service providers, i.e., hotels and rental apartments, among others. In practice, however, it is very likely that the cost of the new fee will be passed on to tourists, for example through slight increases in accommodation prices.
