The new Dubai Loop project has been unveiled

Dubai surprises once again with the scale and pace of its infrastructure development. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has just announced the Dubai Loop project – an ambitious transport tunnel system developed in collaboration with The Boring Company. The investment is set to revolutionize underground travel, offering faster, smoother, and more efficient journeys.

Construction of the Dubai Loop is set to begin in the near future. In the first phase, a 6.4-kilometer pilot route with four stations will be launched. It will directly connect the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Dubai Mall, and Burj Khalifa – three key points on the city map. The project is designed to provide smoother commutes, better connectivity at the first and last legs of the journey, and the ability to transport over 13,000 passengers per day.

Once fully developed, the Dubai Loop will be 22.2 km long and will include 19 stations. The system will connect, among others, the Dubai World Trade Centre, the financial district, and Business Bay, creating a new underground transport hub for the city. What sets the project apart is the technology used. The 3.6-meter-wide tunnels will be built using advanced tunneling methods that are faster, more efficient, and significantly cheaper than traditional subway solutions.

The initial investment will amount to approximately AED 565 million, while the total cost of the project is estimated at around AED 2 billion. This is another example of Dubai's long-term strategy of consistently investing in innovative and intelligent transport solutions.
