Flight cap at Amsterdam Airport invalidated

The case concerns the restriction of flight operations at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, one of Europe’s largest airports. Authorities had planned to reduce the number of takeoffs and landings to limit noise and the airport’s environmental impact. However, the Netherlands’ highest administrative court ruled that the imposed limit was enacted improperly.

According to the court, the decision was flawed for two reasons. First, the flight limit was introduced incorrectly from a procedural standpoint, and second, it lacked the appropriate justification required for such a significant change affecting the airport’s operations. The ruling means that the planned restrictions cannot be implemented in their current form.
