AirBaltic is discontinuing its route from Krakow to Vilnius. In the winter flight schedule, this connection will only be operated a few times at the turn of December and January.
In April this year, airBaltic announced that the connection from Krakow to Vilnius would also be operated during the winter season together. However, the airline's plans had to change, as the winter flight schedule does not include any flights from southern Poland to the Lithuanian capital, except for a few rotations at the turn of December and January. This means that airBaltic is withdrawing from the Krakow-Vilnius route. The only flights that the airline will operate on this route will be twice a week: on Thursdays and Sundays from 14 December to 4 January.
Why did airBaltic decide to discontinue such a prosperous route as Krakow-Vilnius? Most likely, this is related to the launch of direct flights from Krakow to Vilnius by Wizz Air on 26 October. Competition from the low-cost airline must have prompted the Latvian airline to focus its resources on other areas of its business.
