On Sunday, 27 April, Kuwait became the last country on the Arabian Peninsula to decide to reopen its airspace. The suspension of flights had lasted almost two months.
The US/Israel-Iran conflict completely paralysed air traffic on the Arabian Peninsula for several weeks. One of the countries hardest hit was Kuwait. This tiny nation, known for its vast oil reserves, had its airspace closed for almost two months. The decision to reopen it was taken on Friday, 24 April, and the first flights returned to the skies over Kuwait on Sunday, 26 April 2026. For the time being, only local airlines – Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways – have resumed flights, with foreign carriers expected to return gradually over the coming weeks.
