At the end of March 2026, Air China will resume regular flights from Beijing to Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea.

Following a hiatus of several years caused by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and the complete closure of the DPRK’s borders, the Chinese airline Air China is reinstating its route to North Korea. According to the carrier’s booking system, flights from Beijing to Pyongyang on Air China will resume on 30 March this year. The flight will operate once a week, on Mondays, and will take approximately two hours.

Tickets for the resumed service are already on sale. Air China flights are a more convenient alternative to Air Koryo, North Korea’s national airline. If the DPRK’s borders open up to other foreign tourists in the coming years, this will provide an opportunity to visit one of the world’s most mysterious countries with a quick stopover in Beijing on a single Air China ticket.
