From 11 March 2026, two airports in the Romanian capital have lifted the limit on liquids in hand luggage: Bucharest-Otopeni Airport and Bucharest-Baneasa Airport.
The change in regulations was announced by CNAB, the company that manages Bucharest's airports. The lifting of the liquid limit in hand luggage at Bucharest-Otopeni and Bucharest-Baneasa airports came into effect today, 11 March 2026, at midnight. This means the end of the unpopular regulations on the maximum capacity of bottles and containers up to 100 ml and the possibility of taking a bottle or container of up to 2 litres with you, as well as no need to remove electronics from your luggage during security checks. Bucharest airports have thus joined other airports in Romania (Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu) in lifting restrictions on liquids in hand luggage.
This information will definitely please travellers from Poland. For over a year, connections from Poland to the Romanian capital have been developing at an incredible pace, and low ticket prices encourage visits to Bucharest, known as the Paris of the East. You can fly to Budapest-Otopeni Airport with Ryanair and Wizz Air from Gdańsk and LOT from Warsaw, and to Bucharest-Baneasa Airport with Ryanair from Krakow and Wizz Air from Krakow, Warsaw and Wrocław.
