On 9 March, a new train connection appeared in the timetable of Koleje Śląskie, connecting Gliwice and Bytom with the airport in Pyrzowice. The route is of a pilot nature.
On 9 March, Koleje Śląskie updated their timetable, adding a very interesting novelty to it. Katowice-Pyrzowice Airport will have a direct connection to Bytom and Gliwice. The connection is a pilot project and will run once a day in each direction, connecting Gliwice with Częstochowa via Pyrzowice Airport. Due to the modernisation of the Katowice Railway Junction, it is not possible to run more connections per day. After the modernisation is completed and the results are checked, Koleje Śląskie is to decide whether to continue or suspend the connection.
The route will lead from Gliwice, through Zabrze Maciejów and Zabrze Północne, Bytom Główny, Karb and Stroszek, Radzionków, Tarnowskie Góry to the Katowice-Pyrzowice airport, and further to Częstochowa. The train will depart once a day in each direction: at 6:38 a.m. from Gliwice to the airport and at 4:10 p.m. from the airport to Bytom and Gliwice. The journey from Gliwice to Bytom will take 1 hour and 12 minutes, and from Bytom 43 minutes.
