Visiting one of Rome’s most important landmarks will become more expensive. Starting July 1, admission to the Pantheon will cost more, as a result of a new agreement regarding the use of this historic site.
Under the new rules, the price of a standard ticket will rise from 5 to 7 euros. This is yet another change that is part of a broader trend of raising fees for access to Italy’s most important tourist attractions. The price increase applies only to standard tickets—some visitors will still be able to take advantage of free admission or discounted tickets.
The price changes stem from a new agreement regulating the use of the Pantheon—one of the best-preserved monuments of the ancient world. The site serves both as a tourist attraction and a place of religious worship, which requires a special approach to managing visitor traffic.
