An absurd situation occurred a few weeks ago at Vatry Airport in France. A Ryanair plane took off for Morocco empty, even though all the passengers were there and waiting to board.
This is one of the strangest situations at European airports in recent years. On 14 April 2026, a Ryanair flight from Châlons-Vatry Airport, located 150 kilometres from Paris, to Morocco took off without passengers. However, this was not because no tickets had been sold, nor because nobody had made it to the airport. A total of 192 passengers turned up at the airport. The flight to Marrakesh was due to take off as normal that day, as reported by *Le Figaro*, but no one was allowed on board...
Because the passengers could not pass through security. Because there were no security staff. How is that possible? They were all on sick leave. An external company is responsible for employing these staff members, but it failed to inform the airport authorities of the situation. Ultimately, the tourists could not pass through security, missed their flight, and the plane took off empty.
