On 14 August, Ryanair announced the opening of its new operational base. It will be located at Tirana Airport. The result? Three aircraft based there and ten new connections from the Albanian capital.
Three Boeing 737-800 aircraft and as many as 10 new connections – these are the details of Ryanair's announcement about the establishment of an operational base at Tirana airport. The Irish airline will launch its $300 million investment at the beginning of 2026. Ryanair emphasises in its announcement that it is the fastest growing airline in Albania and that the opening of a new operational base is another step towards its development in the country.
Passengers can look forward to 10 new routes from Tirana: to Birmingham, Dublin, Milan, Malta, Naples, Pescara, Poznań, Trieste, Turin and Verona. We wrote about the launch of the connection from Tirana to Poznań a few days ago. The rest of the routes? Most of them are to Italy, which is linked to strong trade, labour (many Albanians work permanently in Italy) and family ties. In the long term, the investment is also expected to create 3,000 new jobs in the Albanian capital.
