airBaltic’s seasonal route from Kraków to Vilnius will not resume in June, despite the airline’s earlier announcements.
We love writing about new routes, but unfortunately we sometimes have to write about cancelled connections too. This is the case here. airBaltic has cancelled its seasonal route from Kraków to Vilnius. Flights to the Lithuanian capital were due to return in June, but there is now a gap in the booking system. The reason? "The decision was taken following an assessment of the route’s commercial viability in light of rising fuel prices. Passengers affected by this decision will be informed directly. They will be offered alternative travel options or a refund for their tickets" as quoted by airBaltic on the pasażer.com portal.
We can surmise that this is also due to Wizz Air launching the same route from Kraków to Vilnius, and in the face of such strong competition, the carrier has decided to cancel the service and shift its focus to markets that are more important and profitable from the airline’s perspective.
