The Azerbaijani authorities have officially confirmed that, from 26 May, a daily direct rail service will resume between Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.
Fans of the Caucasus and travellers just waiting to explore these beautiful regions certainly have something to celebrate. On 26 May, the long-awaited rail link from Baku to Tbilisi will be restored. The route from the capital of Azerbaijan to the capital of Georgia will be served daily. Tickets are not yet available on the booking systems of either the Azerbaijani or Georgian railways, but we will most likely find out the ticket prices and journey times in the coming days. This is excellent news for fans of beautiful mountain scenery and adventure seekers. It also provides an impetus for the relaxation of border regulations in Azerbaijan. The country has yet to ease entry regulations regarding land borders following the Covid-19 pandemic.
