Passenger rail soon in the Emirates!
The United Arab Emirates is undergoing a transportation revolution. Etihad Rail's passenger rail service will soon be launched, offering a modern, fast and environmentally friendly way to travel across the seven Emirates.
Spanish company CAF, responsible for designing the trains, assures that each will accommodate more than 400 passengers, offering seats in three classes - first, business and economy. The trains will travel at speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour, making them one of the most efficient means of transportation between major UAE cities.
Travelers will be able to move easily between cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, Sharjah or Ras al Khaimah, Al Ain, as well as through smaller towns such as Khor Fakkan, Liwa, Shah and Ruwais. Etihad Rail also plans to integrate with Dubai's RTA system, meaning that the popular nol card, familiar to Dubai public transport, will be able to be used to book tickets.
One of the key components of the project will be the Hafeet Rail route, which will connect the city of Sohar in Oman with Abu Dhabi, reducing travel time between the two countries. Construction of this cross-border line began in May 2024, and its completion will bring the UAE and Oman closer together, opening up new opportunities for tourists and businesses alike.
