The International Civil Aviation Organisation has introduced new regulations limiting the number of power banks allowed in hand luggage – passengers will be able to take a maximum of two on board.
The International Civil Aviation Organisation’s decision has finally standardised international regulations on passengers carrying power banks in their hand luggage on flights. The regulations have been in force for several days now and are clear: each passenger may take a maximum of two power banks in their hand luggage on board the aircraft. Their capacity is irrelevant – it doesn’t matter whether you have three low-capacity power banks or two high-capacity ones; the limit of two power banks remains unchanged. Under the new regulations, it is also prohibited to charge power banks during the flight using the power sockets located at the passenger’s seat. The rule prohibiting the carriage of power banks in checked-in luggage and boarding the aircraft with a power bank with a capacity exceeding 100,000 mAh without the airline’s consent remains unchanged. The new regulations aim to ensure greater safety and prevent power banks from overheating and potential fires on board aircraft.
