According to Thai media reports, LOT Polish Airlines is interested in launching direct flights to Thailand. This is not the first such report in recent years, but this time talks with the relevant authorities in Thailand are reportedly ongoing and well advanced.
As we can read in one of the latest articles in the Bangkok Post, LOT Polish Airlines is interested in launching direct flights to Thailand. The Polish airline is in talks with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, a government organisation under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports in Thailand. Interestingly, this is not just one destination: LOT is interested in launching flights to Bangkok, Phuket and Krabi. As we can read in an article on Fly4free.pl, Robert Ludera, the company's proxy and director of LOT's network office, confirms that Bangkok is the priority, but the Polish airline is also targeting Phuket and Krabi, i.e. holiday destinations that would be operated as commercial flights independently of charter flights.
When can we expect the announcement of new routes from Poland to Thailand? Certainly not soon, as LOT's fleet shortages are a problem. At this point, the Polish national airline does not have a sufficient number of long-haul aircraft, but the announced plans to acquire more Dreamliners in the coming years will certainly bring us closer to the first direct connection from Poland to Thailand in many years.
