Dubai is once again proving that it is a global leader in innovation. In selected parts of the emirate, residents can now use autonomous taxis ordered via the Uber app, implemented as part of a pilot program run by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has confirmed that the city has begun testing driverless taxis. This is another step towards modern, sustainable, and smart mobility, which is set to become the standard of the future in the emirate.
Residents and tourists can now book rides in autonomous vehicles through the Uber app. The service is made possible through a partnership with WeRide, a global leader in autonomous driving technology. Robotaxis are currently available in two districts of Dubai — Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah — which were selected as the first areas for the pilot implementation.
