Istanbul Airport is the first in Europe to implement flight operations on three independent runways. This historic moment took place on 17 April.
Turkish Airlines is celebrating the beginning of a new era in European aviation. The Turkish airline began flight operations on three independent runways at Istanbul Airport on 17 April. This is the first time that three independent runways have been completed and inaugurated at a European airport. This will increase the operational capacity of Istanbul Airport and enhance its standing as a transfer hub connecting Europe with the rest of the world. How has the implementation of operations on three independent runways enabled Istanbul Airport to increase its operational capacity? By shortening taxiing times, reducing delays and improving the punctuality of Turkish Airlines flights, which will translate into faster, smoother and more environmentally friendly passenger service. The system also supports the reduction of CO₂ emissions, in line with the airline's long-term environmental commitments.
