Another urban development project is to be built in the United Arab Emirates, combining modern architecture with nature. The concept of the “oasis city” called Khalid Bin Sultan City was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects.
The new ultra-modern “garden city” will be built near Sharjah, one of the cities of the UAE. The project envisages the creation of a space that will function as an oasis, both visually and climatically. The heart of Khalid Bin Sultan City will be a two-kilometer oasis, around which the other elements of the investment will be located.
The designers have focused on pedestrian traffic to reduce the number of cars and make the space more friendly to residents. Wide sidewalks and numerous trees are planned to provide shade and thus lower the temperature in the urban space. There will also be bike paths and covered areas for recreation and relaxation.
The entire complex will consist of seven intimate neighborhoods, each with its own square. The residential buildings will be designed in organic shapes inspired by desert dunes and the natural landscape of the area. The planned amenities will include sports complexes, a shopping center, and a mosque, providing residents with a full range of infrastructure within walking distance.
