Are you planning a holiday in Turkey but afraid of the heat while standing in queues for museums and attractions? From June, the most important attractions in Turkey will be open until late in the evening, especially for tourists.
Sightseeing at 35°C, often even 40°C, is no fun. Especially if there are long queues for attractions. They are aware of this in Turkey, so the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism has prepared a special programme for tourists. From 1 June to the end of October, all of Turkey's most important tourist attractions will be open after dark until late in the evening.
The list includes a total of 27 places from across the country, including Hagia Sophia and the Gelata Tower in Istanbul, the ancient city of Ephesus, the Archaeological Museum in Antalya, the ruins in Side, Pamukkale and the underground cities in Cappadocia. The Turkish authorities hope that extending the opening hours of these attractions will increase tourist interest even during the hottest period of the year.
