Velana International Airport in Malé, the Maldives' main airport, has been expanded with a modern Terminal 1. This long-awaited investment will significantly improve the comfort of travelers visiting this paradise archipelago.
The new Terminal 1 at Velana Airport in Malé covers an area of over 78,000 square meters. It is one of the key infrastructure investments in the Maldives, aimed at meeting the growing tourist traffic.
The new terminal includes direct jetways leading to aircraft, an increased number of passport control points, and an expanded check-in and baggage claim area. A modern baggage handling system has also been implemented to speed up passenger service.
Although the terminal is not yet fully completed, some of its functions are already operational and the first passengers can enjoy the amenities. The Maldivian authorities have announced further finishing works, which will be completed in the coming months.
