Gdansk airport to join the group of quiet airports

From January 2025, Lech Walesa Airport in Gdansk will become a so-called silent airport. This means that most of the announcements emitted by loudspeakers in the terminal area will be abandoned, which is expected to make passengers more comfortable before their journey.

Gdansk airport authorities announced the planned changes via social media. The decision to transform the port into a quiet airport is part of a global trend to improve the passenger experience by minimising noise in departure and arrival areas.

Under the new rules, from January 2025, passengers will not hear announcements from loudspeakers about the start of boarding, the last boarding call or other announcements related to specific flights. All information regarding departures and arrivals will be available on information screens and mobile apps.

The airport assures that the new solution is aimed at creating a calmer atmosphere for travellers, which will be particularly appreciated by those travelling with children or seeking a moment of relaxation before a flight. At the same time, the airport authorities remind passengers that it is their responsibility to keep track of the status of their flights and get to the right gates on time.
