Wizz Air to launch domestic connection from Bratislava to Košice

From 1 May, anyone planning to visit the Blue Lagoon on the Maltese island of Comino must use a new online booking system. The introduction of this solution is a response to growing concerns about overcrowding on the island, the degradation of its fragile ecosystem and the difficulties faced by tourists and local authorities.
The new regulations do not mean a ban on entry, but are a necessary step towards sustainable tourism. At the peak of last summer's season, up to 12,000 people were visiting the Blue Lagoon at the same time, a number that far exceeds safe and comfortable limits. The new system will limit the maximum number of visitors to 4,000 at any one time. This is a long-awaited change that has been called for by both residents and conscious tourists.
The system works according to the ‘Book, Protect, Enjoy’ principle. All visitors, both individuals and groups using commercial water transport, must register in advance free of charge at bluelagooncomino.mt. There are three time slots available: 08:00–13:30, 13:31–17:31 and 17:31–22:00.
After completing a simple form and providing an email address, the system generates a unique QR code, which must be presented at the entrance, both from the land and sea sides. On site, tourists will receive wristbands entitling them to stay in the lagoon during their reserved time slot. Failure to make a reservation may result in a fine, although a transition period is planned for the first weeks of the system's operation, during which officials will inform and instruct visitors.
