Albania is preparing to build a fourth international airport near Saranda, one of the most popular holiday destinations in the south of the country.
The new airport is intended to serve the tourist traffic in the Saranda and Ksamil region, making it easier to travel to the picturesque beaches and tourist attractions in this part of Albania. The plans are for the new airport to be a small airport operating exclusively during the summer season. Its main purpose is to relieve the pressure on other Albanian airports and to provide tourists with direct access to the southern coast of Albania.
Although the project has already been officially announced, no information has been provided yet on the planned start and end date of construction. The new airport in Saranda is intended to be the next step in the development of Albania's tourist infrastructure, which has been attracting more and more travellers in recent years.
