The youngest passengers will not be able to fly first class if the ticket was paid for with loyalty points – this is the new rule in Emirates' Skywards programme.
Major changes to the rules for purchasing first class tickets on Emirates. From 15 August this year, passengers will not be able to book first class seats for their children aged 8 or under using Skywards Miles loyalty points. This option is still available for purchase with cash. This rather controversial change to the rules has received a mixed reception on social media. Some commentators note that this is a step in the right direction and that first class flights should not be available to young children. However, these same people point out an inconsistency in the rules due to the exclusion of purchasing tickets for young children in First Class using loyalty points only. The other side of the argument believes that this excludes the youngest members of society from a publicly available form of transport, for which parents were happy to pay with miles earned with the carrier.
