Emirates is introducing new rules for the carriage and use of power banks. From 1 October 2025, passengers will still be allowed to bring one power bank that meets certain requirements on board, but its use during the flight will be completely prohibited.
Emirates has announced that from the beginning of October 2025, the use of any power banks on board its aircraft will not be permitted. The change is intended to improve passenger and crew safety. Although these devices will remain permitted in hand luggage, passengers will not be able to charge their phones, tablets or laptops with them during the flight.
Travellers will only be allowed to carry one power bank with a capacity of less than 100 Wh. Each power bank must be clearly marked with its capacity – failure to do so may result in it being left behind before boarding.
Power banks must not be placed in overhead luggage compartments. Instead, they should be stored in the seat pocket or in a bag placed under the seat in front of the passenger. The new regulations are to be enforced from the date of entry into force, so airlines encourage passengers to familiarise themselves with the regulations before travelling.
