Wizz Discount Club

On April 29, Wizz Air introduced major changes to its “Wizz Discount Club” membership program. The standard annual subscription will increase by €20, and ticket discounts will no longer be available for tickets starting at €19.99, but rather €29.99.

Wizz Discount Club is a membership program (or subscription) in which Wizz Air customers receive additional benefits not available to other passengers for a one-time annual tax. Until April 29, Wizz Discount Club members paid $39.99 per year (or $69.99 for a group package) and received: a €10 discount on tickets costing at least €19.99 for themselves and a companion (in a group package for themselves and 5 companions) and a €5 discount on 20kg and 32kg checked baggage.

On April 29, Wizz Air changed the discount rules in the Wizz Discount Club and increased the price of annual membership. Standard membership (for 1 person + companion) has increased by €20 from €39.99 to €59.99, and group membership (for 1 person + 5 companions) has increased by €30 from €69.99 to €99.99. What is more, the minimum ticket price entitling passengers to a discount has also been increased. Now, the €10 discount per ticket applies to tickets priced from €29.99, and not from €19.99 as before. These changes are very unfavorable for passengers.

In exchange for the increases, Wizz Air promises special promotions on tickets for Wizz Discount Club members only, but this does not change the fact that one of the best loyalty programs among low-cost airlines has just become much less profitable than before.
