From 15 November, visitors to Pompeii will face new restrictions. Due to the huge interest in the historic ruins, the authorities have decided to introduce a limit of 20,000 tourists per day.
Pompeii, one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, attracts crowds of tourists eager to see the well-preserved remains of the ancient Roman city. This year's visitor numbers reached a record high, leading to the decision to impose limits to protect the fragile ruins from excessive tourism.
The new rules aim to protect Pompeii's cultural heritage and provide better conditions for visitors to the site. A limit of 20,000 people per day will allow for more comfortable visits and reduce pressure on the tourist infrastructure at the dig site.
The introduction of limits may affect the way tours and ticket sales to Pompeii are organised. The authorities stress that the decision is necessary to preserve the unique character and condition of the historic monuments. The changes will come into effect from 15 November.
