Dubai, known for its innovative projects, announces its next challenge: it plans to open a luxury underwater hotel by 2028 in what is expected to be one of the most extraordinary hotel facilities in the world.
The new underwater hotel, dubbed ‘Hydropolis 2.0’ for now, will be located on the shores of Palm Jumeirah - an artificial island famous for its luxury resorts and hotels. The unique concept will create guest rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows that look directly out to sea. Guests will be able to observe marine life in its natural environment for an unforgettable experience.
The hotel's design is intended to resemble a giant, futuristic shell. The structure will consist of two main parts: the above-water part, housing restaurants, pools and other amenities, and the underwater part, which will house luxury rooms. The underwater part will be submerged several metres below the surface of the water, creating the illusion of being fully immersed in the oceanic world.
The hotel is not only to be luxurious, but also eco-friendly. Solar panels and other innovative green energy solutions will be used to power it. The project aims not only to delight guests, but also to promote sustainability and marine conservation.
