RegioJet in Przemyśl

The Czech rail operator RegioJet has announced in its latest press release that it will cease operations on all its domestic rail routes in Poland on 3 May.

A shock? Definitely. This morning, on Thursday 9 April 2026, the Czech rail operator RegioJet issued a press release announcing that as of 3 May 2026, RegioJet will cease operations on all its available domestic routes in Poland. The announcement concerns the Kraków–Warsaw–Gdynia and Poznań–Warsaw routes, which means that RegioJet will continue to operate international routes through Poland: from Warsaw to Prague and from Przemyśl via Kraków to Prague. The carrier has stated its intention to return to Polish railways when “the market is genuinely open to competition, and conditions are transparent and equal for all, without infrastructure blockages, sales restrictions or predatory pricing policies”. However, RegioJet’s argument has been widely commented on by rail market experts in Poland, who accuse the Czech rail operator of delays on announced routes, problems in delivering promised services and staff shortages during its entry into the Polish market.

Customers who have purchased tickets are to receive a full refund for their tickets by 15 April at the latest, via the same method they used to pay for them. In addition, passengers may apply for an extra 100 PLN in compensation via a special form as an apology and, as RegioJet puts it: “funds to cover the difference in ticket prices between RegioJet and PKP Intercity”.
