Emirates: young children will no longer be able to fly first class using miles

From 1 March 2025, the minimum top-up amount for the NOL card in Dubai has risen. You can now top up your public transport card at vending machines in metro stations for a minimum amount of AED 20 - compared to the previous minimum amount of AED 5.
The NOL card is a card for all public transport in Dubai: for the metro, buses, trams and even water trams. If you are planning a holiday in Dubai, you will probably get it at metro stations or you will have it as a souvenir if you have returned from Dubai. The card works by topping it up with credit and then scanning it at the gates or ticket barriers when exiting the vehicle. Some time ago, the minimum top-up amount at ticket offices was changed to 50 AED, and now the change has affected top-ups at ticket machines in metro stations.
Instead of 5 AED, the minimum top-up amount for NOL cards in ticket machines at metro stations is 20 AED from 1 March. The change was announced by the RTA on its social media, reminding people that there is no need to queue and that NOL cards can be topped up using the NOL pay app, for example.
