Wizz Air at Vienna Airport

The Hungarian low-cost airline will close its operational base at Vienna Airport and suspend all its connections from the airport in the Austrian capital by 15 March 2026.

This shocking news was reported today by the aviation industry media and confirmed by the Hungarian airline itself – Wizz Air plans to withdraw completely from Vienna Airport and suspend all its connections from the Austrian capital. Vienna is one of the Hungarian airline's largest operational bases in Europe, and its history will come to an end on 15 March 2026. Of the five aircraft currently operated by Wizz Air at Vienna-Schwechat Airport, two will be withdrawn on 26 October and flights to Bilbao and London-Gatwick will be cancelled. By 15 March 2026, the remaining aircraft will be withdrawn and the remaining routes will be closed, including those from Vienna to Tirana, Larnaca, Nice, Barcelona, Pristina, Madeira and several other attractive destinations. Affected passengers can expect a refund for their tickets or a rebooking to another flight from the Wizz Air network, subject to the guidelines set by the airline.
