Almaty Kazakhstan

From 31 March 2026, LOT Polish Airlines will launch a new connection from Warsaw to Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan.

This information was announced on his account on the X portal by the Minister of Infrastructure, Dariusz Klimczak. The route is scheduled to start on 31 March next year, and flights will operate four times a week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. These will be night flights, with returns to Warsaw Chopin Airport from Almaty scheduled for the day after each rotation. This will be a year-round connection with a reduction in flight frequency during the winter season to three flights per week. The route will be operated by Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. This will be the second connection of the Polish national operator to Kazakhstan, right after flights to the capital, Astana.

The new destination of Almaty is an unexpected and excellent addition to the national carrier's route network. For LOT, it will certainly be an important business connection, for passengers from Kazakhstan an important connection with a potential transfer to further corners of Europe, and for tourists from Poland a unique opportunity to visit this incredibly interesting region.

What can we see in Almaty and the surrounding area? Almaty is the largest city in Kazakhstan, with a population of over 2 million. It is a typical post-Soviet city, with a large number of green parks and a brutalist-modern architectural mix. About 200 km from Almaty is the famous Sharyn Canyon, one of the most beautiful canyons in the world. It is also worth seeing Lake Kaynugdy, going to the Aktau Mountains or taking a trip to Kyrgyzstan, whose capital, Bishkek, is located a few hours by bus from Almaty.
