Greece has decided to tighten the quality standards for private flats that are rented out to tourists on a short-term basis.
The Greek government has taken action to regulate the market for renting private flats to tourists. The Greek Ministry of Tourism has created a special law project that strictly defines the rules for renting private flats and similar properties to tourists on a short-term basis. The project aims to link the standardisation of rental flats with the safety standards in hotel facilities. The owners of private accommodation would be obliged to provide a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, emergency evacuation signs and emergency numbers.
